Canine Massage Therapy:  can help relieve your pet’s distress. It is a gentle and non-invasive therapy that improves muscle function and circulation and provides rejuvenating affects and benefits for many of the body’s systems.

.

Whether your dog is a show champion, working partner, or a family companion, they can benefit from massage therapy.

The family pet may have an injury or arthritis that could be eased with regular massage sessions; the working dog may have muscle strain that needs treatment; the show champion may have pain and stress from the tension of the show season; the timid, high-strung dog may just need help releasing stiffness and anxiety.

By use of the same basic technique as the equine sports massage- muscle pain and tension is relieved; allowing your dog to move more freely and more comfortably.

Massage therapy can help by:
Increasing blood and lymph circulation.
Bringing strength to weakened muscles.
Dispersing pain in tensed muscles.
Aids behavioral problems and emotional wounds.
Reducing stress and tension.
Restoring proper mobility and flexibility.

Welcome to my passion!

Hello, my name is Jenna and I would love to share with you my Fi Star philosophy and vision .....

It is known that all beings have a light that shines within- I refer to this as our "Star".

During times of pain, illness or injury, this "Star" may begin to fade.

At Fi Star Massage, we apply proven massage techniques that will promote health and improve well being.

Therefore, our vision at Fi Star Massage is to nurture and strengthen this light within - thereby, reigniting and illuminating the "Star".

Equine Sports Massage Therapy sets itself apart from general massage therapy in that we provide not only a recuperative therapy for your horse but also preventative therapy.

Sports massage focuses heavily on releasing the deepest forms of tension, allowing for elongated strides, fluid movement as well as improved flexibility and overall suppleness in your equine athlete.

Sixty percent of the horses body weight is composed of muscle. When muscles are worked and strained, they react by hypercontraction which results in compensatory stress on others muscles or joints throughout the body. Muscle soreness can be acounted for in many ways, primarily through injury, cooling down too quickly, overstretching/overuse as well as systemic and structural imbalances. Unfortunately, muscles whether or not they are damaged do not appear on X-rays and since horses (like humans) anticipate pain, they react behaviorally or through shortened strides and uneven gaits.

Massage therapy is used to locate areas in the horses body which have experienced strain and then alleviate these areas through treating with direct pressure and other strokes to create increased blood flow to that area and break up muscular adhesions.

Benefits of this type of equine therapy:
Massage therapy increases circulation,  facilitating faster healing throughout the body
Pre and Post Work-out massage prepare the muscles for strenuous exercise as well as allowing the muscles to return to a relaxed state more quickly
Massage therapy involves the muscles in an anaerobic work-out
Facilitates the elimination of toxins and increases the flow of nutritious substances throughout the body
Relieves muscle tension and muscle spasms
Breaks down muscle adhesions caused by muscle injuries or muscle tension in various parts of the body

Lengthens connective tissue and breaks down/prevents the formation of adhesions
Faciliates pain alleviation throughout joints and muscles
Enhances muscle tone
Increases range of motion, allowing lengthened strides and freer movement

How do you know if your horse needs a massage:

If your horse has some of the following symptoms:
Head tossing
Refusal to pick-up correct lead
Unexplained lameness
Difficulty with lateral movements
Girthing or "cold back" problems
Lack of forward impulsion
